On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to wish all members a very Happy New
Year. We are planning many exciting club activities for 2000, including several track
events and a charity fundraiser. Wally Clark will be heading up the Fundraiser Committee
to choose the proper theme, and possible locations.
Tom Brockmiller has presented a calendar of events that contain many great activities for
club members to enjoy. The following events highlight some of the New Year's activities:
- Driving schools and other events that allow for track experience without racing.
- A focus on club member's personal cars (something that we all think would have great
interest), be it one car with its owners viewpoint or a collector amongst our club.
- New ride and drive destinations with interesting points along the way.
- Visits to auto restoration shops and technical tips from mechanics.
Our Board meetings are scheduled for the second Saturday of each month, with a few
exceptions, such as hosted meetings. The meetings are generally scheduled to be held at
the Radisson on El Segundo, near LAX.
I would like to thank Earl Gandel for a "job well done" as our volunteer editor.
It takes a lot of work to maintain our high standards, and his enthusiasm will be greatly
missed. I also want to thank all of those who write articles and take pictures. Rose
Cogan, who relentlessly attracts advertisers and nearly covers the entire expense for the
newsletter, deserves a thank you. A special thanks to all of you who participate in
planning, as well as those of you who work on our events, and help our club throughout the
year.
We continue to believe the newsletter is the catalyst for success, enabling us to show our
members who we are and what we do. Our newsletter was founded by Jeff Littrell, whose
inspiration directed it to be one of the highest rated newsletters in the country.
The club is healthy, active and consistently gaining new members. I am honored to be a
part of it. Come join us, as we plan the club's activities.
